The roof supporting columns are main columns and will not be disturbed, and only the floor columns (supporting floor) will be dismantled or re-built to support the steel beams.
Get the Problem Statement of IDP here. Also go through the following section to get better understanding of the Problem Statement.
**Having received similar questions from various participants on issues unanswered in problem statement, we addressed these problems in the form of questionnaire in the below section. Also new drawings are provided below which have better readability and easily understandable and in Adobe PDF format.
Drawing # 1 - Demolition Plan and the old floor.
Drawing # 2 - Civil drg – showing the old concrete columns. No columns are required to be demolished.
Drawing # 3 - shows the arrangement of new structural steel beams
1) Detail of existing column & footing (dimension) are not mentioned in dwg file. Please provide the layout of columns at floor level (8m EL) or ground level.
A) Location of columns were already marked in the drawing. Refer to sheet #2. The column has been hatched. These columns are floor columns and doesn’t carry the load of the building. These columns carry only floor load. All footings are at column location. Footing dimension were not included so as to reduce the details. You need to compare load, and not bearing pressure.
2) As mentioned in problem statement, the columns supporting the roof which are not to be demolished & the floor slab columns which are to be demolished are not clearly mentioned in the image provided by the company. The columns marked in orange color in image file is to be demolished or to be left over is not clear. Also the columns near blast furnace is not clear and some are confusing with ducts. So please give detail about the column to be demolished and those not to be demolished.
A) Please refer to the drawing which marks the floor area to be demolished. We are going to demolish floor, along the line it has been marked in the drawing. The floor, beam will be cut-off all along the cutting line; as if you are cutting the paper. We are not demolishing columns generally. We may cut the head of the columns to develop connectivity.
3) We are provided with only the height of the floor slab that is 8.00 m. No detail about the height of the roof has been provided. So dead load calculation is not possible. Also the height of EOT crane at which it is installed is not mentioned. So for this please provide the front & sectional elevation of the building.
A) We haven’t provided the full view of the building because we intend to focus the floor only. Structurally the floor and building are not connected. So focus can be on the re-building. EOT capacity is 35Mt on main hook.
4) Weight of the EOT crane is not mentioned.
A) Ignore .
